He regularly contributes to “independent Rehabilitation Report” for holistic assessment of complex rehabilitation needs (Medical and Medico-legal). In addition to his National Health Service work, He has been working with Pace Rehabilitation as a specialist in Amputee Medicine and as the Consultant in Neurorehabilitation for Ashbrook Neurorehabilitation, Manchester. He is an educational supervisor for trainees in rehabilitation Medicine and serves in the specialist training select committee (STSC) for Rehabilitation Medicine of Health Education North West. He teaches undergraduate, postgraduate medical professionals and Allied Health Professionals in various settings and is faculty for many different courses and workshops. He has a number of published articles in leading journals. He has a wealth of teaching experience and regularly presents at national and international meeting.

He is the Clinical Lead for the Acute Rehabilitation following Major Trauma at UHSM and serves a very important part of the team providing a comprehensive and specialist Neurorehabilitation service for complex patients in Greater Manchester Neurorehabilitation pathway.ĭr Basu is regular contributor to professional journals, and has taken an active interest in a number of rehabilitation and educational projects for Salford, Manchester University and UCLAN. He also has special interest in Spasticity management including Botulinum Toxin Chemodenervation, Neurorehabilitation including Stroke Rehabilitation, Hyper-acute Rehabilitation, Poly-trauma Rehabilitation, Traumatic brain injury, Spinal cord injury Rehabilitation and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation. He is one of the major contributors for BSRM Amputee and Prosthetic Rehabilitation Standards and Guidelines document 2015 (not published yet). He also holds Honorary Lecturer post in Salford University.
He also provides the inpatient amputee rehabilitation service at Wythenshawe Hospital, Wigan Hospital and Manchester Royal Infirmary (including the children’s hospital).ĭr Basu is the selected Member of the National Clinical Guideline Development Group (GDG) for Trauma Service Delivery (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence NICE |NCGC | Royal College of Physicians) 2014-2015. His NHS Amputee Medicine practice is based at Specialised Ability Centre Manchester (Sub-regional Centre for Amputee Rehabilitation), providing the Consultant service for the patients with amputation from various causes, for the people with congenital limb deficiency and for complex prosthetic rehabilitation need including post amputation pain phenomenon. He is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine at University Hospital of South Manchester. Following his post-graduation, he had further training in Rehabilitation Medicine from North West Deanery in Manchester.
